Saving Your Windows Files

If you are moving
to Linux, you’ll have to move files that are important to you (duh!).
This will include stuff in My Documents, and program settings, if
you are moving to Linux versions, or running Windows programs under
Wine.

I’ve been doing
daily and weekly backups for some time. You should also make sure
that the backups are ok, i.e. That you can restore from them.

You should also run frequent backups on your Linux machine.  You will be able to install backup programs quite easily.  I’ve been using pybackpack myself.
